Nick's Blog

A blog is a form of a website, and is typically maintained by a single person. Blogs are updated with enries regularly and are usually about descriptions of events, commentarty, or media including videos or pictures. The word blog stands for web log, and can also be used as a verb, which means to add content or maintain a blog. The entries to blogs are listed from oldest to newest posts.

Some blogs are about current news events or about current pop culture, but most are people's online diaries. The latter is very popular for celebrities and other famous people to participate in. Blogs typically contain web links, images, videos, and other forms of media that would be related to the topic that is being bloged about. Blogs are somewhat interactive. The reader is allowed to leave textual comment on any blog they choose.

Blogs are not limited to what they are about. They can range from music (MP3 blog), video (vlog), photographs (photoblog), or even art (artlog). These are part of social media, which is a much wider network.

Twitter, uses one of the newer forms of bloging called microblogging.  Microblogging is basically blogging in a much shorter form. Twitter is quickly becoming very popular amoung teenagers and celebrities alike.

As stated before, most blogs are personal, but some can be made for business reasons. These blogs can be used for one of two reasons.

One reason for having a business blog is to use it externally, which would be for public relations, branding, or marketing. The second reason is to improve the culture and communications within the corporation.
